It’s likely that employment will change when a move occurs, especially for military spouses. The information below will provide you with employment assistance information and resources available such as SECO, MyCAA and MSEP Portals.
Fort Eisenhower is located 9 miles Southwest of the city of Augusta, the center of the second largest metropolitan area in Georgia. This area is also known as the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA), which is made up of 18 counties; 13 in Georgia and 5 in South Carolina.
Companies that have facilities, headquarters or distribution centers in Augusta include Amazon, CareSouth, T-Mobile, Automatic Data Processing, International Paper, Sitel Corporation, Elanco, John Deere, Procter & Gamble, Kellogg's and Delta Air Lines baggage call center. Two of the world's largest makers of golf and utility carts, EZ Go and Club Car, are also located here. Kimberly-Clark and Bridgestone Firestone Tires both operate large, modern facilities just across the river in South Carolina.
Augusta is home to the South's largest medical college, the Medical College of Georgia – Augusta University, and several hospitals, including University Hospital, Doctors Hospital, Eisenhower Army Medical Center (at Fort Eisenhower), Walton Rehabilitation Hospital, two Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals, and Aiken Regional Medical Center. Positions in the medical field are commonly available, either at the hospitals or at the many physicians' offices.
The CSRA hosts over 100 public and private schools, which require educators and support personnel.
There are three call centers in the area: SITEL, T-Mobile & ADP. They employ many people and do not require education, but do require good computer skills.
The local Georgia Department of Labor offices offer career counselors, job referrals, assistance with resumes and practice for interviews.
The Employment Readiness Program provides information and referral services in the areas of employment, education, training, transition and volunteer opportunities. It assists family members with the challenges of searching for a new job and gives them the competitive edge needed to secure employment.
The program offers resources to help with your career plan and job search. Whether you’re a military spouse or family member who just moved to a new installation, a retiree, a Department of Defense civilian looking for new opportunities, or active duty military, active reserve, or National Guard, we’re here to help.
For questions, please call 706-791-9869.
