Shipping Pets
Take your pet from the United States to a foreign country (export)
Your destination country may have specific health requirements that must be met before your pet can enter the country. Since export requirements are determined by each country and can change frequently, every time you plan pet travel you will need to verify the export requirements. Please note that airlines may have separate and additional requirements. Check with your airline to determine what requirements they may have, if any.
Bring your pet into the United States from a foreign country (import)
Animals entering the United States may be subject to regulation by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, or APHIS, as well as other federal agencies. Depending on your destination state, your pet may need to also meet additional health requirements.
Please visit APHIS for pet travel or 804-734-2446.
Building 11025, 38th Street

Adequate care includes ensuring large dogs are provided with fenced yards and outside shelter per Fort Gregg-Adams housing regulations. Residents' pets must be tagged and registered with the clinic and have valid certificates of rabies vaccination.
Pet Adoptions
Animals are required to be protected from heartworms. For more information, contact veterinary services at 804-734-2446.
Planning for shipment of your pet includes researching airline requirements and quarantine restriction laws in your new location. You will need to check with the airlines on the requirements for size, weight, number of animals, kennel construction, documentation and season of the year limitations. Occasionally, small pets can be shipped on military flights but availability and regulations are always changing, as well as fees. Search https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel for pet shipping information.
