Resources are available to help you understand and manage your finances, including one-on-one financial counseling to assist you and your family with financial readiness. Services are designed to focus on money management issues throughout your active-duty lifecycle and into retirement. Financial readiness educational opportunities range from basic planning to long-term investing. Check out the information below to see what’s available at your installation.
ACS, Financial Readiness Program, 706-545-7125, offers classes on Blended Retirement System (BRS), Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Budget Development, Debt Management, Credit Development and Management, Insurance, Investments, Major Purchases, Community Resources, and Planning for Deployment, Transition, Retirement, or PCS. The installation Financial Readiness Program provides consumer information, education and consumer complaint resolution and financial education and planning. The program can help Soldiers and families identify the most consumer-friendly businesses and institutions. Individual assistance is available for all aspects of consumer affairs, financial management, and credit management and counseling.
Army Emergency Relief provides no-interest loans and grants to assist with emergency situations. AER also provides emergency food vouchers when AER assistance for food cannot be provided. Most AER assistance is provided as a no-interest loan. Traditional assistance is provided to active and retired soldiers, dependent family members and widows and widowers. Under the Commanders and First Sergeant Quick Assist Program, the company commander or first sergeant may approve loans up to $2,000 for active-duty soldiers. For more information contact AER at:
