For local assistance, information and referral services available through your Military and Family Support Center can assist you in identifying and clarifying needs and locating and connecting to services and programs available on and off your installation.

The Morón Air Base chapel offers various religious services as well as several ongoing classes for spiritual growth. Additionally, our Chapel Team offers 100% confidential counseling and sponsors numerous programs for our community throughout the year. Some of these events include marriage enrichment retreats, family retreats, single retreats, cultural engagement trips and holiday programs. Seville Elementary and Middle School (SEMS) provides education services to students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The school has four multi-grade general education classrooms (kindergarten and first grade, second and third grade, fourth and fifth grade, and sixth and seventh and eighth grade) and five special classes (Host Nation, Art Enrichment, Health and Exercise, Technology, and Music Counseling). High school students (grades 9th-12th) can either, be bussed (3 - 4 hours round-trip per school day) to David G. Farragut High School at Naval Station Rota (Rota HS), attend local Spanish schools without financial assistance from DoDEA, or enroll in homeschooling. SEMS offers various afterschool clubs and family activities throughout the school year. The school’s website has contact information. Homeschool is not authorized in Spain (and most of Europe); however, under the SOFA agreement, U.S. military families stationed in Spain may be allowed to participate in homeschooling. Students that are homeschooled may continue to be enrolled at Sevilla Elementary/Middle School or Rota Middle/High School and be provided access to school resources. The School Liaison Program Manager is the main point of contact and vital link between families, schools, community stakeholders, and the installation. The SLPM is committed to outreach, advocacy, and partnership initiatives that generate real-time solutions for military-connected students in grades PreK-12 as they face global educational challenges and transitions. The School Liaison Program Manager assists with registration process, school information, communication between families and schools, homeschool support, and inbound/outbound process during PCS moves. The SLPM also provides information about local daycares, pre-schools, summer camps, and after school activities. If you have a child dependent, regardless of age, please check in with the SLPM upon arrival. Other important information for parents to consider before PCSing to Morón Air Base: Morón AB is a small Geographically Separated Unit (GSU) with no Child and Youth Program (CYP) services (Child Development Center (CDC), School Age Care (SAC), or Youth Programs). If you are a single parent or dual military with school-age children, you may need to re-evaluate your volunteer status for this assignment and/or accompanied status. Extracurricular activities and summer/winter camps are offered in the local area. Transportation services are not included. Spanish education may not be aligned with U.S. standards and benchmarks. Parents are responsible for transferring the student’s transcripts. SE/MS cannot currently support students on IEP or with any special needs.

Mon-Fri 0900-1500 BEFORE ARRIVAL Prepare financially. Relocating costs money, much of it up front. Though you will be reimbursed for many of these expenses, plan on saving $4,000-$6,000 for the move. For many, that means starting a savings account early. Some anticipated costs are: traveling expenses to include hotel, rental car, meals, etc. Other expesnes to consider include: the purchase of a vehicle (if required); insurance (most companies require a year’s premium up front); car registration fees; renter’s insurance. For personnel planning to live off-base, you will need to save for deposit and rent. Your first payment to the landlord will usually include a deposit equal to one month’s rent in addition to the first month’s rent. The second month’s rent may be due before Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA) is processed. OHA will cover rental fees but not the deposit. UPON ARRIVAL Our finance team offers one-on-one services for your financial needs. Once you arrive, visit this office as soon as possible to complete your travel voucher. Completing this paperwork on time will help get you reimbursed in a timely manner. Allowances The most common allowances you will receive while stationed at Morón Air Base are: ● Cost of Living Allowance (COLA): A non-taxable allowance designed to offset the higher overseas’ prices of non-housing goods and services. The allowance fluctuates based on local costs and the cost of goods in the United States. ● Overseas Housing Allowance (OHA): A payment to service members living in a private housing complex during overseas duty station. It is used to pay for rent and utilities. Utilities fees tend to fluctuate during the year depending on usage of AC/heating so be sure to save any money left over to cover those months that are more expensive. ● Move-In Housing Allowance (MIHA): A one-time entitlement payment for move-in housing expenses. ● Temporary Lodging Allowance (TLA): A payment used to reimburse a member for lodging and meals. Some general recommendations on this topic are the following: ● Make sure you keep a copy of all your receipts from your travel days to Morón Air Base ● Once you arrive, visit the CSS and Finance Office as soon as possible… don’t delay! ● Make sure you have been detached from DTS at your previous base, this will facilitate the processing of future TDYs ● Monitor your GTC card statement ● If you encounter any significant delays during your trip, contact your SATO office as soon as possible Please contact the First Sergeant if your payment does not update after the first month.
