The Tampa Recruiting Battalion is located in West Coast of Florida. It encompasses from Brooksville to Naples in the West Coast, and Lakeland to Rockledge in Central Florida. Tampa Recruiting Battalion area of operations is serviced by two Air Force Bases. MacDill and Patrick AFB. MacDill is located in South Tampa and Patrick AFB is located in the East coast in Cocoa Beach.

Battalion remote locations consist of all of Orlando and Sarasota companies' area of responsibility and a few recruiting stations in the Central Florida and St. Petersburg companies' area of responsibility. The Tampa Recruiting Battalion, nicknamed the "Gators", consists of the Battalion Headquarters and five Companies. Battalion recruiters are responsible for enlisting young men and women into both the active duty Army and the Army Reserve. Gator Battalion recruiters cover the majority of West and Central Florida, from St Petersburg in the West to Rockledge in the East, from Inverness in the North to Naples in the South. The Battalion Headquarters is located in Tampa and the Company Headquarters are located in Sarasota, Orlando, Tampa, Kissimmee and Saint Petersburg.
The Tampa Recruiting Battalion is a part of the 2nd Recruiting Brigade, which is currently headquartered in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, and U.S. Army Recruiting Command, headquartered at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

History
On Sep. 14, 1991, the Tampa Recruiting Battalion was activated in a ceremony at the Marriott Westshore Hotel. LTC Frankie L. Moman accepted the command of the new battalion from 2d Brigade Commander COL Robert Enyeart. The new Tampa Recruiting Battalion drew from portions of the Jacksonville and Miami Battalions and originally consisted of four companies, the Sarasota Company, the Orlando Company, the Tampa Company and the St. Petersburg Company. In October 1995, the Tampa Recruiting Battalion added a fifth recruiting company, the Lakeland Company and March 2008 Daytona Company joined the Tampa Recruiting Battalion. In September 2012 Daytona Company was relocated to Jacksonville battalion.
The Tampa Recruiting Battalion Headquarters has been located at 3350 Buschwood Park Drive, Tampa, Florida, since its activation.
