Military and Family Support Center

Military and Family Support Centers provide information, education and support programs to help balance the demands of military life. Offerings include:

• Deployment support to assist you and your family during all phases of the deployment cycle. Learn more about deployment support.

• Confidential non-medical clinical counseling provides support for a wide range of issues from marital conflicts and stress management to coping with grief and deployment adjustments Learn more about confidential non-medical counseling.
• Personal and family life education assists with developing knowledge and skills to help you navigate your mobile military life.
• Personal financial readiness assists you and your family in building and maintaining your financial readiness.
• Employment assistance supports career exploration, education, training and licensing, career connections and employment readiness for military spouses, transitioning service members, and other family members. Learn more about the Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO.
• Information and referral can assist you in identifying and clarifying needs and locating and connecting to services and programs available both on and off your installation.
• Morale, Welfare and Recreation, or MWR services provide lots of ways for you to connect with friends and others for entertainment, rest and relaxation — all at reduced or no cost. Learn more about MWR programs and services.

The following programs are available on most military installations. If you live near Fort Meade, or another installation, you may visit the U.S. Army Recruiting Command Airman and Family Readiness Center directly, or contact the Soldier and Family Assistance program manager to access programs and services. If you do not live near an installation, the SFA can assist you.

• Army Family Action Plan Program is a grassroots forum designed to allow the greater Army family to provide input and recommendations to resolve quality of life issues that affect the Army community.
• Army Family Team Building consists of free classes designed to educate and train soldiers, families, Department of Army civilians and community members about the military lifestyle, personal development skills and leadership skills they can use as volunteers with their local units or in their local communities. Classes are available through the online training tab of Army OneSource or in the classroom by arrangement with the SFA.
• Army Volunteer Corps promotes community and unit volunteerism. Through volunteering, you may learn or enhance skills, get to know the community, build a resume and meet new people. As the AVC coordinator, the SFA is responsible for recruitment, training and recognition for unit volunteers.
• Exceptional Family Member Program is a mandatory enrollment program to assist soldiers who have family members with special medical, psycho-social or educational needs. The U.S. Army Recruitment Command EFMP Systems navigator is available to assist soldiers and families enrolled in EFMP at 502-626-0734.
• Family Advocacy Program consists of various programs, intervention, advocacy and prevention education to address domestic violence. For more information or assistance, contact the SFA or the MRB FAP coordinator at 888-571-3848.
• Family Employment Readiness Program includes career counseling, skills assessment and resume development, interview preparation, and information on job fairs and unemployment benefits. • Information and Referral provides a single point of contact to access military and civilian community resources. Contact the SFA, your unit Family Readiness Group Leader, or Military OneSource, at 800-342-9647.
• Mobilization and Deployment Readiness Program offers ongoing FRG training to soldiers, civilians, and family members throughout the deployment cycle. Contact the SFA for assistance or information.
• Military Family Life Consultant offers free and confidential, non-medical, solution-focused consultation for a variety of work-life wellness issues. To access services or for additional information, call 502-264-5074/5073.
• Relocation Assistance Program augments the unit sponsorship program and ensures quality relocation assistance for incoming and outgoing personnel. See the RAP section below for more information.
