The Mission of the Mountain Warrior Battalion: Recruit with integrity, qualified Soldiers, throughout our area of operations, to meet the personnel and special skill requirements of the Active Army and the Army Reserves while taking care of our Soldiers, civilians, and Families. There are numerous military installations of various services in the southeastern area of our Battalion footprint. All Recruiters are required to enroll in TRICARE Prime or TRICARE Prime Remote. We are located in the TRICARE East Region which is operated by Humana Military. Family members may elect TRICARE Prime, Remote or Select. The Remote locations, Blacksburg Recruiting Company, Lynchburg Recruiting Company, or Bridgeport Recruiting Company option allows medical bills to be handled as Prime even when not in a normal Prime service area. Only after you have in-processed the unit will you update your TRICARE and DENTAL enrollment information. You have 90 days from the date of your address change to change your health plan. Dental insurance is handled through the TRICARE Dental Program administered by UCCI and their network of preferred providers. Soldiers located more than 50 miles from a military Dental Treatment Facility or have been referred to a civilian sector dentist will participate in the TRICARE Active Duty Dental Program.

Childcare is not typically available except through civilian sources. Army Child Care Fee Assistance was created to provide authorized Reserve and Active Duty assistance in locating, selecting, and offsetting the cost of civilian child care when on base child care isn't available or a viable option for the service member and their family.
