USAREC, Mid-Atlantic Battalion

With integrity and selfless service, the Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion provides strength to the Army, cares for the assigned soldiers, civilians, families and develops community support for the military.

In September 1997, the US Army Recruiting Battalion Philadelphia was relocated from the U. S. Customs House in Philadelphia, PA, to the Naval Air Engineering Station in Lakehurst, New Jersey. It was then re-designated as the US Army Recruiting Battalion Mid-Atlantic. Today, The Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion is responsible for recruiting in portions of Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Battalion is comprised of 38 Recruiting Stations, six Recruiting Companies, the Army Experience Center and the Battalion Headquarters element. The Company Commands are located in Cherry Hill, NJ; Lakehurst, NJ; Newark, NJ; Picatinny Arsenal, NJ; Philadelphia, PA and Valley Forge. The six recruiting companies situated throughout our recruiting area are responsible for the recruiting of qualified young men and women for the Regular Army, Army Reserve, Warrant Officer Flight Training and Special Operation Forces. The U.S. Army Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion is headquartered at Naval Air Engineering Station (NAES), Lakehurst, New Jersey. The NAES Lakehurst is located in the Pinelands National Reserve in Ocean County. The battalion is one of the eight battalions that make-up the U. S Army 1st Recruiting Brigade located at Fort Meade, Maryland. The Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Battalion oversees the recruiting mission of 37 Regular Army Centers. The battalion is divided into six companies (South Jersey-K2, Philadelphia Metro Valley Forge-K3, Central Jersey-K4, Philadelphia metro-K6, North Jersey-K7 and Newark-K8) covering approximately 17,000 square miles. It also includes the Army Experience Center located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The battalion is comprised of over 270 military, civilian and contract personnel.

This is a resort area, which is a part of the "Jersey Shore". There are many recreational activities available, such as; beaches, camping, fishing, etc. Additional sport activity locations include golf courses, tennis courts, and swimming pools. The Six Flags Great Adventure Amusement Park is only 15 minutes away. Regardless of where you are assigned within the battalion; there is more than enough to see and do in each of our company areas.
