When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
When you arrive at Bahrain International Airport or the military airport (AVUNIT Muharraq), you will be met by your sponsor or a representative from your department or command. In the event your sponsor is a no-show, contact the command duty officer at 011-973-39403877, or assistant command duty officer at 011-973-39432187.
All personnel reporting to COMUSNAVCENT, COMFIFTHFLT, NSA or any tenant command, must check-in with Navy Gateway Inns and Suites. NGIS is the transient quarters. Checking in with NGIS ensures the non-availability stamp and date/time is stamped on your orders. Once NGIS stamps your orders Temporary Lodging Allowance or TLA can begin. Check-in with Personnel Support Detachment or PSD should be completed within 24 hours after your arrival. However, TLA is paid up to 45 days.
However, if you arrive on an AMC flight, at the AVUnit, your orders will be stamped for housing non-availability. TLA is paid up to 45 days. E7 and officers are required to stay in local hotels for 45 days or less; E4-E6 are required to stay in TQ for 45 days or less; E3 and below are required to stay in NSA Bahrain barracks.
E4-E9 and officers are required to stay in local hotels for 45 days or less. E3 and below are required to stay in NSA Bahrain barracks. Prior to checking in the hotel off-base all military/DOD civilian personnel are required to get the non-availability stamp from NGIS. E3s and below are required to stay on base at NGIS (NSA Bahrain dormitory style barracks). Reservations can be made in advance by contacting the Housing/Navy Gateway Inns & Suites at 011-973-1785-2100/3372 or DSN 318-439-2100/3372.
Most flights arrive in the evening and the check-in process of submitting pay and personnel records takes place the following day.
Arriving military personnel will report to the Personnel Support Detachment. Civilian employees will report to the Human Resources Office. Checking in with PSD or HRO ensures accurate date and time of arrival are stamped on orders.
Upon arrival stop by the Fleet and Family Support Center and sign up for Newcomer's Orientation.
ALL PERSONNEL ARE TO REPORT WITH A FULL SEA BAG, INCLUDING UNIFORMS.
