Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
If you live near an installation, use the search function on Military OneSource to identify information on base-specific pet requirements. If you are considering residing in base housing, find out the rules and any deposit required. Most installations require you to register your pet with the Housing Office if you choose to reside on base. Before taking a trip with your pet, make sure your lodging allows animals and check what deposits might be required. Make sure you also check with airlines for pet costs and restrictions.
Make sure your pet's shots are up to date and you keep a copy of the shot record. Most information about what's required for your pet can be found online.
