The 3rd Medical Recruiting Battalion is a geographically-dispersed unit with many locations considered "remote" as they are located further than 50 miles away from the nearest military installation. Unit members who live near military installations are encouraged to use Military INSTALLATIONS for specific local and installation resources and information. Members who are remote from military installations may call the Local Soldier and Family Assistance Program Manger at 502-626-2076 for assistance or to help identify local area resources and information.

Recruiting is one of the most critical jobs in the Army and it’s an extremely important mission. USARD is a geographically dispersed unit, located throughout the 48 continental states, Hawaii, Alaska, U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Europe, Guam, Saipan, Japan and Korea.
Due to the geographical dispersal of the units within USARD, Soldiers and Families may find themselves living many miles from a military installation. For some, transitioning into a civilian community can be difficult.

The 3rd Medical Recruiting Battalion Headquarters is located on Fort Knox, Kentucky, located just 35 miles from Louisville. Fort Knox encompasses 109,000 acres in three Kentucky counties. The Battalion's Area of Operations includes 3 Medical Recruiting Companies and 15 recruiting centers and stations covering 470,000 square miles in the states of Illinois, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.
