Your Military and Family Support Center provides relocation assistance to help make PCS moves as smooth as possible. Resources include:
Due to current housing market conditions, soldiers are encouraged to consider all options: rent vs. purchase vs. Leased Government Housing. Research the area you need housing in order to understand current market availability and make an informed decision. Research housing costs, annual taxes, utilities, etc.
If MI assignment is under 24 months, there may be significant tax consequences regarding capital gains on a house purchase unless assignment is more than 24 months.
Families are strongly advised against entering into any housing or rental agreements prior to signing into the unit.
There is one Army Community Service Lending Closet in Michigan. The ACS office is located at the USAG Detroit Arsenal installation in Warren. This Lending Closet offers items to check out while your household goods are in transit. Items available for loan include pots and pans, dishes, high chairs, GPS devices and small kitchen appliances.
Hours listed: Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday – closed. Due to Pandemic/COVID restrictions please call to verify Lending Closet hours or requirements to check out items prior to visiting.
