Check-in Procedures

Los Angeles Air Force Base does not have a 24-hour reporting station. If you are flying into the area, please arrange for your military sponsor to greet you at the airport. When in-processing at the base, please bring all material from previous duty location and be in uniform. All military members assigned to the Space Base Delta 3 will in-process at the Customer Support Section in Building 272, 1^st Floor lobby. Members of the Space Systems Command will in-process with the SSC CSS in Building 270, 1^st Floor, Room A1-211. In-processing hours are 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Both offices are closed on the first Thursday of the month for training, family days and holidays.

One part of the in-processing checklist is to go the Military and Family Readiness Center in Building 272, Room C1-209. Here you will receive community information and assistance and given information regarding the Military/Civilian INTRO. This is a half-day briefing on the 1st Tuesday of every month from 8 a.m. to noon. Attendance is mandatory. 

Don't forget: DD Form 1840 (Pink Form) should be filled out at the delivery of your household goods. DD 1840R should be sent within 75 days of delivery. You can file online. If you mail directly to the carrier, get a return receipt. Note: This is not filing a claim.

File a claim within nine months directly with the carrier to get full replacement value on damaged or missing goods. Do not get estimates unless asked. Full replacement does not mean all new goods. The carrier can replace, pay full value or repair damaged goods. 

Military/Civilian INTRO

SBD3 INTRO is held on the 1st Tuesday of every month. Please have your supervisor or sponsor provide you with the contact information to register.

Temporary Lodging: Los Angeles AFB no longer has temporary lodging/billeting available. Please call 310-653-8296 or DSN 312-633-8296 to obtain Non-Availabilty Statement for off base lodging/billeting. For other base lodging options en route 888-235-6343 for Air Lodge, 800-628-9466 for Navy Lodge or for Army bases visit their website.

If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures.

Some things to remember:

• Set up an appointment.
• Have two forms of identification for registration in DEERS, the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System. At Los Angeles Air Force Base go to the Customer Support area in the lobby of Building 272 on the 1st floor.
• Register for TRICARE.
• Bring the original marriage certificate and spouse's Social Security card which can be used as a form of I.D.
• Register at the Clinic business office in Building 210 to add the name of your spouse in their system.
