Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12. Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes. Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation. Please contact the Child and Youth Program point of contact at this installation if you require information, assistance or resources for child care in your local community.
MacDill Child Development Programs operates three Child Development Centers. All three centers are DOD Certified and NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Youth Children) accredited offering quality early childhood programming for your children, specializing in learning through play.
Enrollment is available on a priority basis for children 6 weeks to 5 years. Additionally all sites are participants in the Florida Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program for eligible children, 4 & 5 years of age.
Kinderspot is now live at MacDill! Offer and rent short-term childcare in weekly segments at the CDCs! Kinderspot aims to support military and DOD civilian families with their child care needs when they are on temporary duty assignments, leave, relocating to a new base or being called in for reserve duty.

School Age Care
The mission of the MacDill School Age Care is to assist the DOD military and civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of the accomplishment of the DOD mission and family life by managing and delivering a system of quality, available, and affordable programs and services for eligible children and youth birth through 18 years of age https://macdillfss.com/school-age-care/.
Eligibility Requirements
Those eligible to utilize our programs include all wounded warriors, active duty, DOD civilians, activated Guard and Reserve, and contractors assigned to MacDill AFB. Established priority placement procedures apply when filling vacancies.
Enrollment
To enroll, go to militarychildcare.com. Create an account, then search and request care. You will be contacted via email when a space is available.
Fees
Fees for School Age are calculated from your total family income. Your family fees will be determined when you register for care and will be based on the services you need.
Priority Care Priority is determined as follows: First priority to dual active duty military (mil-mil) families and active duty single parent.
Waiting List
The waiting time varies for each age group. Please contact the Child Development Center for current information.
Hourly or Drop In Care
Space available slots are based on the absent of a regular enrolled child being on vacation or out sick.

Child Care for PCS Program
The Child Care for PCS program allows up to 20 hours of free child care for parents of ALL branches of service that are arriving to, or leaving, MacDill AFB. Child Care is provided through the Family Child Care Providers and must be used within 60 days of departure/arrival. This program is open to all ranks. Respite CareEFMP Respite Care is designed to assist Air Force families with short-term specialized care (to help reduce stressors associated with caring for an exceptional family member). Sibling Care is available up to age 13. If you have more than 1 EFMP child, you must have a form completed for each child. Please contact the Community Child Care/FCC Coordinator to assist you through the process for eligibility, scheduling and for home interviews with prospective providers. Special Needs
Children with special needs are eligible for services. Special needs can include, but are not limited to ADHD, food allergies, asthma and diabetes. A special needs care plan must be completed and approved prior to the start of care. This process can take several weeks for final approval.
