A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
If you arrive in Naval Base San Diego and need basic kitchen or household items, we offer Lending Closet packs for temporary loan. Lending Closet kits are available on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis. Naval Base Point Loma Fleet and Family Support Center Lending Closet kits are a Tupperware container filled with the basic kitchen necessities. In addition to the full kit, coffee pots, toasters, sleep mats, irons and ironing boards are available for check out.
Kits are available at NB San Diego’s FFSC, Naval Base Point Loma, NB Coronado and multiple off-base housing locations including Bayview Hills Branch, Gateway Village Branch, Kearny Mesa Branch and Village at Serra Mesa Branch. Typically, these items are available for a two-week check out period.
NB Point Loma’s FFSC does not have furniture or major appliances. In the event such items are needed, a relocation consultant will provide you with a number of community agencies that may be able to provide those items at no cost.
