Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
All dogs and cats four months of age and older at Naval Support Activity Annapolis must be vaccinated against rabies and must be licensed through Anne Arundel County.
New residents moving into the county have 30 days to license their dog or cat. For more information on licensing your pet, visit the Anne Arundel County Website.
Upon receiving your orders at Naval Support Activity Annapolis, you should immediately request information and make arrangements for your pet's transportation, as space on flights is limited. This is especially true during the hotter months.
Passengers are responsible for complying with the required sizes for shipping containers, host country documentation, immunizations, border clearance requirements and associated costs.
Arrangements are more complicated for service members transferring overseas, so even more time should be allowed for planning in those situations.
For more detailed information on moving with pets and specific overseas quarantine requirements, contact your Fleet and Family Support Center and installation transportation office.
