Policies and rules for shipping pets vary at each installation. It’s important to understand the regulations, prohibitions and laws at your new installation before moving with a pet. Below, you’ll find installation-specific details for registering, boarding and transporting your pet.
There are no quarantine requirements at Camp Lejeune/New River. However if you are shipping your pet to an overseas location it is very important that you contact the veterinarian to insure your pet meets all requirements for the new location you are being assigned to. Each country and many states within those countries have varying requirements.

Boarding in the Jacksonville area varies per day with the owner providing food. Additional rates are charged based on services provided. It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure pet boarding arrangements have been completed prior to arrival to the new area.
Moving to a new home can be stressful for pets. Your pet may be upset by the commotion surrounding a move as well as by the travel itself. Pets may also have difficulty adjusting to new surroundings after the move has taken place. For these reasons animals require some special care before, during and after a move. By keeping your animal’s safety and well-being in mind you can make the transition to a new home easier.
There are 11 veterinary hospitals/clinics specializing in small animals in Onslow County eight are located in Jacksonville, one in Holly Ridge, one in Sneads Ferry and one in Swansboro most of which offer boarding. Numerous other locations are located in the local area to assist with boarding of pets.
The base Veterinary Treatment Facility is in Building TT-2455D Tarawa Terrace and can be reached at 910-450-1607. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The United States Marine Corps has set official policy on types of dogs allowed in installation housing and other regulations surrounding pets and service animals on base. You must read and be in compliance with Marine Corps Installations East-marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Order 10570.2A before you plan your move if you plan to live in government housing.
