Since Oct. 1, 2005, all newly arriving eligible personnel to Sasebo are placed on the primary waiting list and will be offered the first home available based on their pay grade, bedroom entitlement and control date. Members get only one offer of assignment to Military Family Housing with a government-funded move. A member may turn down the initial offer of assignment but in doing so they lose their entitlement to a courtesy move. You may then make a preference of your choice based on style and location. Any future move into government housing will be at the member's expense. If you turn down your second offer of government housing, you will be removed from the waiting list.
NOTE: This includes turning down of MFH due to the pet policy. Dogs are only allowed in townhouses and lower garden townhouse apartments. Members need to take this into consideration when bringing pets. There are no designated units for families with pets as bringing pets is a personal convenience. MFH is assigned based on rank and the number of dependents.
