When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
During duty hours, report to the In/Out Processing Center, Building 250, 1716 3rd St., Fort Johnson, LA 71459. The telephone number for the reception desk is 337-531-7258 or DSN 312-863-7258.

This one-stop facility provides convenient services including in-processing of new arrivals; out-processing and transitioning of soldiers for expiration-term of service, PCS, retirement, chapter actions, compassionate reassignment and hardship discharge request actions; identification, common access card and DEERS services; and reassignment and transition finance services.
Through coordination with G1 Strength Management Section, soldiers will receive updated unit of assignment orders as needed. Necessary forms are completed to facilitate smooth in-processing through all stations. Soldiers receive briefings and/or screenings from the following in-processing stations:
During in-processing, personnel records are reviewed and updated, to include preparation of new emergency data sheets and Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance. Common access card processing, DEERS enrollment and identification tags are prepared as needed. Service members attend the School of Standards. or SOS, as it is part of their completion of initial in-processing.
Directions to Consolidated In and Out Processing Complex
If entering post from U.S. Highway 171: Enter through the main gate (open 24 hours and located on Louisiana Avenue). Proceed to the third stop light and the intersection of Highway 467. Turn left onto Highway 467 and travel to the second stop light. Turn right onto 3rd Street. You will pass the hospital on your right. Building 250 is just past the hospital on your left.
If entering post from U.S. Highway 28: Turn left off Highway 28 onto Chaffee Road. Proceed approximately two miles to the Chaffee Road Access Control Point; after approximately two and a half miles, Chaffee Road becomes Alabama Avenue. You will pass through two stop lights. At South Fort, Chaffee Road turns into Alabama Avenue, one-way street. Just after the road divides, turn right onto 3rd Street before the water tower. After approximately one-half mile, the In/Out Processing complex, Building 250, is on your right.
After-Hours Check In
All incoming service members arriving after duty hours must report to Building 240, Warriors Keep, for sign-in purposes. Warriors Keep is located directly adjacent to Building 250.
If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures. If you get married while on leave in between duty stations, you will want to contact your command or your sponsor at your gaining installation as soon as possible. The military will not pay for travel for your spouse or any additional household goods without authorization.
