Check-in Procedures

During duty hours, report to the In/Out Processing Center, Building 250, 1716 3^rd St., Fort Johnson, LA 71459. The telephone number for the reception desk is 337-531-7258 or DSN 312-863-7258.

The field officer of the day can be reached toll free at 800-227-1071, ext. 1726 or 1727; commercial 337-531-1726/1727 or DSN 312-863-1726/1727.

This one-stop facility provides convenient services including in-processing of new arrivals; out-processing and transitioning of soldiers for expiration-term of service, PCS, retirement, chapter actions, compassionate reassignment and hardship discharge request actions; identification, common access card and DEERS services; and reassignment and transition finance services.

Through coordination with G1 Strength Management Section, soldiers will receive updated unit of assignment orders as needed. Necessary forms are completed to facilitate smooth in-processing through all stations. Soldiers receive briefings and/or screenings from the following in-processing stations:

• Finance – conducts audit of finance records and travel entitlements
• Medical records – screens records, checks for last physical and schedules appointment, if needed
• Dental records – ensures required exams and x-rays are completed
• Education records – screens records and schedules appointments with education counselors
• TRICARE – enrolls/explains all supplemental programs to include Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services, or CHAMPUS
• Corvias Family Housing – provides information concerning the availability of off-post housing and places the soldier on the waiting list
• Child youth services – provides services as needed
• Installation Sexual Harassment Assault Response and Prevention Briefing
• Installation Master Resilience Training Briefing
• ID card, CAC and/or DEERS – registration services for active duty, Army Reserve National Guard/U.S. Army Reserve, retired military, family members, and contract and civilian employees for the installation

During in-processing, personnel records are reviewed and updated, to include preparation of new emergency data sheets and Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance. Common access card processing, DEERS enrollment and identification tags are prepared as needed. Service members attend the School of Standards. or SOS, as it is part of their completion of initial in-processing.

Directions to Consolidated In and Out Processing Complex

If entering post from U.S. Highway 171: Enter through the main gate (open 24 hours and located on Louisiana Avenue). Proceed to the third stop light and the intersection of Highway 467. Turn left onto Highway 467 and travel to the second stop light. Turn right onto 3^rd Street. You will pass the hospital on your right. Building 250 is just past the hospital on your left. 

If entering post from U.S. Highway 28: Turn left off Highway 28 onto Chaffee Road. Proceed approximately two miles to the Chaffee Road Access Control Point; after approximately two and a half miles, Chaffee Road becomes Alabama Avenue. You will pass through two stop lights. At South Fort, Chaffee Road turns into Alabama Avenue, one-way street. Just after the road divides, turn right onto 3^rd Street before the water tower. After approximately one-half mile, the In/Out Processing complex, Building 250, is on your right.

After-Hours Check In

All incoming service members arriving after duty hours must report to Building 240, Warriors Keep, for sign-in purposes. Warriors Keep is located directly adjacent to Building 250.

If you get married before you PCS, you must inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military will not pay for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedures. If you get married while on leave in between duty stations, you will want to contact your command or your sponsor at your gaining installation as soon as possible. The military will not pay for travel for your spouse or any additional household goods without authorization.
