A loan closet is a program that allows service members, families and loved ones to borrow durable equipment or resources especially as they are awaiting their household good. This program varies by service so check out the below information to see what is offered at this installation.
The Loan Closet, which is called the Lending Hangar at Fort Rucker is located in the Army Community Services Relocation Readiness Program. Our Lending Hangar provides essential items primarily for the PCSing Family while they are awaiting the arrival of their household goods. Items available for loan include: pots and pans, dishes, glasses, cups, cutting boards, silverware, baking items, cooking utensils, can and bottle openers, tupperware, irons, ironing boards, toasters, hand mixers, blenders, coffee pots, slow cookers, rice cookers, electric skillets, microwave ovens, roll-away beds, and futons. Children's items are also available: porta-cribs, high chairs, infant car seats (up to 40 pounds) and a limited amount of toddler car seats. We do not provide bed linens, blankets, pillows, or towels. Plan to bring or ship these items to save unnecessary expenses.
The Lending Hangar is located in Building 5700, Room 177. Hours of operation are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The items are available for a loan of up to thirty days for Soldiers who are PCSing CONUS and sixty days for Soldiers for are PCSing OCONUS. During busy moving periods, some items may not be available. A copy of PCS orders is required. For more information call 334-255-3161/2887.
Items are loaned on a short term basis for incoming and outgoing families. There are some exceptions that can be made on a case by case basis.
