When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
In preparation for your arrival at Kunsan Air Base, ensure you bring the sealed package/envelope given to you when out-processing your current base. This package must remain sealed and is required upon your arrival at Kunsan Air Base, Republic of Korea.
Your unit sponsor should reach out to you within 45 days of your arrival at Kunsan AB. If you have not been assigned a unit sponsor or you have received no contact from your gaining unit within 30 days of your departure, please contact the Relocation Program manager via email at 8fss.mfrc.officialcoord@us.af.mil with your information and receiving unit's information.
When reporting to Kunsan ABUs and/or OCPs are the uniform of the day. It is also recommended that you have at least one set available in your accompanied baggage. Kunsan AB has a high ops tempo, thus your arrival could be during one of many exercises. Nearly all base facilities are closed during exercises to include BX and commissary. It is critical to coordinate your arrival with your sponsor to ensure you have the necessities you will need upon arrival.
Part of your initial in-processing at Kunsan AB will include the chance to meet the 8th Fighter Wing senior leadership. Therefore, you need to ensure that your personal appearance reflects current Air Force standards from the moment you arrive. Although you might not be in uniform, you will need to meet all other requirements of Air Force Instruction 36-2903, making exceptions for the long flight.
U.S. Transportation Command re-instituted Patriot Express service to Osan and Kunsan AB with the port located at Seattle, WA. This service is mandatory for all duty passenger travel. Your local Traffic Management Office at your current base will book your tickets for your PCS flight to Korea on Patriot Express.
If you arrive at Incheon International Airport near Seoul, you will go through customs and immigration. After picking up any luggage, you will find the USFK desk near the information desk on the first floor of Terminal 2. The next leg of transportation will be to either take a commercial train/or a commercial bus to Gunsan city. After purchasing your ticket, keep all receipts
Purchase a commercial bus ticket from the Incheon Airport (Seoul) bus terminal to Gunsan city. After arrival in Gunsan city, take a taxi to Kunsan Air Base. Special note, local city taxis are not allowed entry to the base. The base taxi service can be contacted using a Korean phone: 1544-9080. Please coordinate with your unit sponsor for base transportation information. Government Travel Card is required unless member does not have a GTC.
If traveling on the rotator flight into Osan AB, you will go through customs and immigrations upon arrival. After picking up any luggage, you will be escorted to a holding area then transported to Kunsan AB via shuttle.

All newcomers must complete the mandatory online USFK sponsorship survey as well as USFK Theater Specific Required Training. After completing the USFK Theater Specific Required Training, print out a copy of the certificate and bring it with you to in-process with your Command Support Staff.
