When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
In preparation for your arrival at Kunsan, ensure you bring the sealed package/envelope given to you when out-processing your current base. This package must remain sealed and is required upon your arrival to Kunsan AB, ROK.
Part of your initial in-processing at Kunsan will include the chance to meet the 8FW senior leadership. Therefore, you need to ensure that your personal appearance reflects current Air Force standards from the moment you arrive. Although you might not be in uniform, you will need to meet all other requirements of AFI 36-2903, making exceptions for the long flight.
If you arrive at Incheon International Airport near Seoul you will go through customs and immigrations. After picking up any luggage, you will exit into the terminal area and turn left. At the end of a very long walk the last desk on the right side of the terminal by the exit near gate 1 is the USO and Military Reception Center where you can find information on how to obtain transportation to Kunsan AB (DO NOT TAKE A TAXI FROM INCHEON TO KUNSAN AB).
If traveling on the rotator flight into Osan AB, you will go through customs and immigrations upon arrival. After picking up any luggage, you will be met by a representative that will direct you to the Wolf Pack Wheels bus which will transport you directly to Kunsan AB.
Please note that throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, transportation from Incheon and Osan AB is provided by the 8th Logistics Readiness Squadron. Members will be provided with a COVID-19 test upon arrival, and then transported directly to their quarantine location.
Once you arrive at Kunsan AB the bus will drop you off at the Wolf Pack Lodge where you will be met by your sponsor or representative from your squadron. You will spend the first night at lodging. You will turn in your sealed package/envelope to your Command Support Staff and receive information concerning your next mandatory appointment - KRO/Newcomer Orientation. This orientation is conducted every 2nd & 4th Tuesday (excluding exercises and down days) 0730-1230 in the Base Theater, building 1000. You will need a security clearance letter from your unit security manager to attend KRO/Newcomer Orientation. At the Newcomer Orientation, you will receive several briefings to make your transition to Kunsan smooth. Korea exercises often and if you arrive during an exercise you will be instructed on where to report once the bus drops you off at the Wolf Pack Lodge.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact MPS Customer Support Section, DSN 315-782-7308, your Command Support Staff or your sponsor.
