Education

Kunsan AB is a remote assignment and military member's families are not authorized command-sponsored status. There are no DOD Schools at Kunsan AB or in the local area. The closest DOD schools are located at Osan, Camp Humphreys and Daegu, each approximately 2½ hours from Kunsan. Local schools off-base near Kunsan are specifically for Korean nationals. Most civilian personnel bringing their family members will enroll their children in either a private Christian school at cost, or provide home schooling.

An Education Center is available to assist military personnel in furthering their education during their assignment at Kunsan. The base Education Center can with coordinating lower level (first two years) college courses through The University of Maryland University College, Embry Riddle and Central Texas College. Additionally, the Education Center can assist personnel with completion of requirements for the Community College of the Air Force associate degree programs. Personnel enrolled in or wishing to enroll in online university programs can receive tuition assistance and resources through the Education Center.
