If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
The Air and Space Forces Aid Society is intended to help airmen and guardians stabilize emergency situations with a substantial financial impact. The collaborative process includes establishing a budget for long-term financial stability.
The Falcon Loan has a maximum amount of $1,500. It covers common, urgent needs such as rent, utilities, food, car expenses, childcare, emergency travel or medical/dental. The process is streamlined with fewer documents required and faster approval. The loan has a fixed cap at $1,500, regardless of situation.
The Standard Assistance Loan has no fixed cap and can exceed $1,500 depending on need. The purpose of this loan is for broader coverage including larger or more complex emergencies like major medical bills, funeral expenses or extensive travel. The process requires more documentation and a case-by-case review. The loan can be structured as an interest-free loan, a grant or a combination depending on circumstances.
Pet grants are designed to defray pet relocation costs including airfare, shipping kennels, etc. Starting January 1, 2024, service members can be reimbursed up to $550 in the continental United States for one household pet, either cat or dog, and up to $2,000 for moves to or from a location outside the continental U.S. to cover costs related to the transportation of a pet which is defined by the Joint Travel Regulations as a cat or dog.

To ensure a smooth transition, your sponsor should have provided you with an electronic copy of: Kunsan Air Base Community Standards, Newcomer's Guide, Air Force Personnel Accountability and Assessment System update instructions and Kunsan's most recent senior staff directives and rules of engagement. A list of important numbers is provided in these documents. It is also recommended you take photocopies of all important documents and numbers to have for quick reference. It is very helpful to exchange social media contact information with your sponsor in the event you need to communicate while traveling.
Make sure you have all your important papers with you and not packed in your household goods. Write down contact phone numbers for your family and relatives, your sponsor, your gaining unit, orderly room, commander, and the Command Post at Kunsan AB. The phone numbers will be invaluable in case of an emergency while traveling.
