Here, you’ll find information and options about the services you have regarding healthcare.
Flight Medicine Clinic
Pápa Air Base has a Flight Medicine clinic is a Medical Aid Station which provides operational medical support to the Heavy Airlift Wing.
The Medical Aid Station is in the Hungarian clinic building, which is located in building 13, across the street from the base dining facility.
The main entrance is open during normal business hours (8 a.m.-4 p.m.) on weekdays. Hungarian emergency medics are on call in the building 24/7 year-round and can be reached using the phone located in the small lobby if entrance is required outside of business hours.
The Active Duty population receives primary care services through the Medical Aid Station with additional support through International-SOS (I-SOS). Dependents are seen in the civilian community by in-network TRICARE providers. Authorizations for primary care services (Optometry, Pediatrics, Adult Primary Care, and Obstetrics/Gynecology) within in the community are obtained by calling ISOS.
TRICARE Overseas ProgramThere are two insurance programs available for active duty and command sponsored dependents:
TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP)-Prime Remote provides comprehensive medical care by means of “care authorizations” with TRICARE pre-approved providers. Care is provided through a centralized health care management coordinator, International SOS.
I-SOS administers the delivery of healthcare services for active duty and command sponsored dependents while stationed at Pápa. I-SOS coordinates and approves care within the local community, and provides authorization, translation, nurse advice, and worldwide provider search services virtually. The clinical staff can provide general guidance for questions, but the final authority for care is I-SOS in conjunction with TRICARE.
The second option is TOP-Select,” which allows the patients to have a greater choice, but has a cost-sharing feature. Due to the cost sharing with TOP Select, most patients select to enroll in the Prime Remote Overseas plan. It is imperative the sponsor contacts TRICARE to transfer the insurance upon arrival to Papa.
TRICARE Overseas Program
Medical Care in PápaThere are a limited number of English speaking general practitioners (GP), pediatricians, and dentists. There is also one GP available on-base for members and dependents, contact the Community Liaison Office (CLO) for more medical and other information.
Gróf Esterházy Kórház is the only hospital located at Pápa. The hospital offers basic medical aid. The Accidents and Emergencies department is open 24/7. Contact the CLO as very few staff speak English. It is also strongly recommended to dowloard the HAW Application from your phone application store for more medical and other information.
When you move, TRICARE moves with you. No matter where you go in the world, TRICARE is there before, during and when you get to your next duty station.
There are steps you need to take to make sure changes to your TRICARE coverage go smoothly. Understand that when you move, you may have to use a different TRICARE option. Visit TRICARE Moving to learn more.
Before you move, you should take care of any routine medical needs, including immunizations, and fill your prescriptions so you have enough while traveling. If you need care during your move, visit TRICARE Getting Care When Traveling to learn what to do.
Filling prescriptions while traveling
You should refill prescriptions before traveling. But if you run out of a prescription drug while traveling, visit TRICARE Filling Prescriptions When Traveling.
Getting dental care while traveling
Getting dental care while traveling depends on your location and whether you are a service member or family member.
With permanent change of station orders, ask for a copy of your medical and dental records from your military treatment facility and the dental treatment facility. Do this at least one month before your PCS date. The MTF should also transfer a copy of your record and any family records to your new duty station or you may be able to hand carry them to your new duty station.
If you want someone else to be able to get medical or dental information on you or your family while you are moving, you need to complete a DD Form 2870, "Authorization for Disclosure of Medical or Dental Information."
For more information on getting copies of medical records, visit TRICARE Request Copies of Medical Records.
