In an effort to reduce contact between individuals entering Barksdale, new gate procedures are being implemented immediately for base entry. When approaching the gate, hold onto your ID card with the back bar code visible to the Security Forces member. The guard will scan your card and allow you to enter the installation. Your safety is extremely important and this process will minimize the spread of germs between individuals while still enabling the guard to maintain a non-diminished security posture. If your government issued ID card does not have a bar code, ensure the entire face of the card is visible to the guard to include the photo on the ID and expiration date. In short follow all directions provided by the Security Forces member.

Defense Service Network Dialing Instructions
The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense. Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is unnecessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included. The DOD DSN operator can be reached at commercial 719-567-1110. Please note long distance charges may be incurred.
Barksdale AFB has two DSN prefixes 781 and 331. The 781 prefix will get you in touch with those offices whose commercial phone number begins with 456. The 331 prefix gets in touch with commercial phone numbers beginning with 529.
