The Employment Assistance Program supports military, civilians and family members in achieving short- and long-term employment by referring for education/training and obtaining career goals in the private and public industries. Services also include resources for self-employment, small businesses and entrepreneurial efforts.
Seeking employment? There are numerous options for your job search. If you need help with creating or updating a resume check with the Barksdale Military & Family Readiness Center. The EAP offers a resume workshop and federal employment workshop in alternating months plus individual assistance if needed. Nursing and professional health care and allied health care providers are in great demand in this area due to the large number of medical facilities located here. Medical related jobs using billing and insurance experience are also in high demand. Customer service is currently one of the largest areas of employment opportunities as well. Computer skills are in high demand in all areas as are legal assistants, in particular those with bookkeeping experience and receptionist positions.
While salaries are variable based on the specifics of the position in general a receptionist with high school or college credits might expect to receive $11-$12 per hour while someone with good computer skills and data entry, in addition to receptionist responsibilities, might expect to receive $13 per hour.
Area employers benefit from hiring military spouses and often email job announcements to the BM&FRC before openly advertising the position in the local media. Additional information on the EAP is available on the BM&FRC website.
