The 702 MUNSS is a Geographically Separated Unit (GSU) responsible for receipt, storage, maintenance, and control of US war reserve munitions in support of the German Air Force Jagdbomber-Geschwader 33 (33rd Fighter-Bomber (PA-200)) Wing. The squadron directly supports North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) contingency and wartime operations and its strike mission.
Organization
The 702nd is divided into 5 flights consisting of the Maintenance, Operations, Communications, Custody and Force Support. The US squadron area consists of a Mission Support area, Community Activity/Support Center (includes: consolidated club, Airman’s Attic, Loan Closet/AFN decoders and shoppette), Dining Facility, and Fitness Center. The squadron can provide a number of services like a main operating base, but on a much smaller scale.
Defense Service Network (DSN) Dialing Instructions
The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense (DoD). Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. To place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas European locations, the DSN 314 area code must be included. Büchel DSN numbers are 314-456-Last four digits
