If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Educational opportunities are readily available on Columbus AFB as well as within a 30-mile radius. Mississippi State University will be offering undergraduate and MBA classes on Columbus AFB, (TBA). All classes on Columbus AFB are open to all military members (active, retired, guard, and reserve), dependent family members, and military civilians. East Mississippi Community College, Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi State University campuses are all located within a 30-mile radius of Columbus AFB.
The Base Education Center is the focal point for all post-secondary education programs at Columbus AFB for active duty, reserve, guard, retired, military family members, and military civilians. Academic advising is available for Community College of the Air Force AAS degrees, military tuition assistance, GI Bill, scholarships, financial aid, active-duty commissioning programs, Skillbridge, and all other general college information. Military testing services are available for DLPT, AFOQT, TBAS, AFCT, FAA, skill-level upgrade, and promotions. The National Test Center will be located on the base for College Level Examination Program (CLEP), Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Exams (DANTES), and Pearson-Vue certification tests (TBA). Located in the facility is the Base Training Manager, Formal Training, and Development Advisor as well.
