Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
Preparation of a will is available by appointment, but walk-ins will be accommodated in deployment situations. A will worksheet should be completed online prior to scheduling a will appointment – and make sure to save your ticket number. If you do not have internet access, call the Legal Office to have a hard copy of the will worksheet sent to you.
The Legal Office requests that clients needing more than three powers of attorney make an appointment and complete a POA worksheet online for each POA they need.

The Columbus Air Force Base Legal Office assists active-duty military members, military retirees and their families. Limited services are available for reserve and guard members unless they are on orders. Our goal is to make legal services readily available to our base population as efficiently as possible, focusing on our deployers and their family members. The following services are available at the Legal Office:
Walk-in powers of attorney and notary services are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., making it easier than ever to obtain these important legal services.
When a member's household goods are delivered, all damaged or missing items should be listed on the DD Form 1840/R (pink copies). All items found before the carrier leaves should be identified on the front of the pink copy (DD Form 1840); all items found after the carrier leaves should be identified on the back of the pink copy (DD Form 1840/R).
The member has 75 days from the date their household goods are delivered to bring the pink copies into our office. Once you bring them in, the claims representative will give you more information. You can also file claims online.
