If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
Medical Emergency
The Filmore US Army Health Clinic in New Cumberland is located in Building 400 G Avenue. The phone number is 717-770-7281. Emergency medical technician's are on duty 24/7 from our Safety building. They provide quick emergency service and transport patients to the closest hospital. Civilian hospitals are located in Harrisburg, Camp Hill, York and Hershey.
The second nearest military facility with medical help is the Dunham Army Health Clinic Located at Carlisle Army War College Carlisle. Their phone number 717-245-3400.
Army Emergency Relief
Army Emergency Relief Section at New Cumberland has closed. Active duty and military retirees may take their military ID, current orders and bills to Carlisle Barracks for assistance. Please Call Army Community Service at 717-245-4720 for an appointment. AER a non-profit organization provides emergency loans to military in crisis. Assistance is generally for emergency food or travel but may be available for essential automotive repairs, insurance, rent or utilities. In addition AER has information available on education financial assistance.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross office is located in Harrisburg, Lancaster and York areas.
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army offers a large variety of household items, small electronics, appliances, clothing, linens and furniture. All items are for purchase. Proceeds are donated to the Harrisburg Rehabilitation Center. Fire victims are given vouchers to use for purchasing replacement items. Salvation Army also offers many other family programs for utility assistance.
