Child and Youth Program provides child care and youth programs for working military and Department of Defense civilian families with children ages six weeks through twelve years. Child and Youth Program has the Child Development Center (ages six weeks through five years), School Age Services (before and after school care, holiday care and summer camps). Call 717-770-7360.
The Child Development Center provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences to meet the cognitive, physical, emotional and social needs of children 6 weeks through Pre-Kindergarten. The facility will accommodate 126 children. Call 717-770-7360.
The Child Development Center, building 255, J-Avenue, is located on-site at Defense Logistic Agency. The center provides developmentally appropriate Iearning experiences to meet the cognitive, physical, emotional development of children six weeks through kindergarten. The center is certified to operate through a four-part DOD mandated inspection process and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Additionally, Fire, Safety, Environmental Health inspect the center to ensure regulatory requirements are met.
The Child Development Center serves children from 6 weeks through 5 years (not enrolled in Kindergarten) and is open to active duty military and DoD civilian employees as well as contractors working on the installation.
The center has a sliding fee scale based on total family income are offered on a space-available basis. Children not able to be accommodated are placed on a waiting list and offered care as spaces become available. For Central Enrollment information, please call 717-770-4239.
Availability
Programming includes arts and crafts, literacy, gross and fine motor activities, technology, and multiple opportunities to learn self-help and social skills. The facility will accommodate 126 children.
Hours of Operation
The center is open from 5:45 a.m. until 5:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The School Age Care is located in the same building as the Child Development Center. This facility will accommodate approximately 95 children. The center provides developmentally appropriate learning experiences for youth kindergarten through 5th grade.
Programs Offered
Before/After School care program - available from 5:45 a.m. until the bus arrives for school pickup and after school until 5:15 p.m.
In Service and Holiday care are available.
