All military personnel are required to live on post at Dugway Proving Ground and are assigned high-quality housing based on the service member's needs. As a result, the Basic Allowance for Housing does not apply. Defense Department civilian employees and contractors may live on post or off post, however, the nearest town to Dugway is Tooele, which is about a 60-minute drive from DPG. Additional housing options are available in Salt Lake City and other cities along the Wasatch Front. Dugway participates in the Utah Transit Authority vanpool program.
Dugway Proving Ground's housing units range in size from studio apartments to six-bedroom homes. Apartments are furnished while houses are not. Utilities such as power, heat, cooling, water, sewer and trash are included, and we have a great self-help. High-speed fiber internet is available and AT&T is the best cell provider. Housing is wonderfully walkable and bikeable.
Soldiers almost never experience a wait for housing. Civilian employees may experience short waits. Contact the housing office for real-time availability and application procedures.
