If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. Troy University-Dothan conducts five terms per year. They offer undergraduate and graduate courses each term. Students can complete Associate, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in several areas in the evenings. The Bachelor of Applied Science program uses non-traditional credits to complete a field of specialization in several areas. Credit may be granted for military experience based on service schools or MOS's (Army) or equivalent ratings. Military credit will be evaluated according to the recommendations of the American Council on Education (ACE Guide).
Troy University-Dothan is a member of the service members Opportunity Colleges and participates in both SOCAD-2 and SOCAD-4. The Administrative Offices and classrooms are located on Fort Novosel and assistance is provided in academic counseling, selection of programs, completion of veteran's administration forms, course registration, and tuition assistance. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, offers both on-post and distance learning courses leading to a Master of Science, Bachelor of Science, or Associate of Science degree. Degree programs offered include a Master of Aeronautical Science, a Master of Business Administration in Aviation, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, Associate and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Professional Aeronautics and Technical Management. They also offer certificate programs in Aviation Safety, Logistics, Occupational Safety and Health, Supply Chain Management and Aviation Maintenance Technology Type 65. The courses in the Aviation Maintenance Technology program can be used to prepare for the FAA Airframe and Powerplant testing process. Embry-Riddle will pay for all oral, written, and practical exams upon completion of the University's maintenance series and successfully passing the exam. Central Texas College students may select from Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science and a variety of certificate programs. Classroom courses, offered in more than 150 locations, and distance learning courses provide many options for study and allow students to start and finish their degree with CTC. The Fort Novosel Army Education Center has a variety of programs to support service members and their dependents. The Education Center offers tuition assistance, scholarship information, and other services, such as career and education counseling, DANTES, and the Green to Gold Program. Comprehensive testing services are available at the center and include the CLEP, DSST, ACT, SAT, and many other tests.
The ACES Learning Center Computer Lab services are available to active duty military, DAC, and their adult family members. In addition to many standardized test preparation materials, services include: individualized tutoring; computer software training courses; and foreign language instruction via interactive multimedia.
The Aviation Technical Library is a mission support activity serving all USAAVNC, military and civilian personnel for job-related information needs. The Library supports all professional development courses offered at Fort Novosel and serves Army Aviation personnel Worldwide. Military personnel receiving tuition support receive reference and research support. The general public may use all unclassified, unlimited materials in-house, subject to noninterference with USAAVNC patrons and priorities imposed by the local commander.
