Naval Air Station (NAS) Joint Reserve Base (JRB) New Orleans is one of the most unusual military air facilities in the United States. It is the first in the country that was planned, built and now functions as a joint air reserve training center.
NAS JRB New Orleans mission statement is "Our mission is to provide an effective training and operational environment to support the fleet, the fighters, and the families of the active duty, reserve, and the National Guard components who live, work, and train aboard the base."
NAS JRB New Orleans is comprised of the following commands and tenant commands:

There are two gates for NAS JRB New Orleans. The Main Gate is open 24 hours and located on Belle Chasse Highway, Hwy 23. The Olson "Back" Gate is open twice a day, M-F: 0600-0830 and 1530-1730, and is located on Barriere Rd.
