Plaquemines Parish School District in Belle Chasse offers 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school. Additionally there is a NASA Explorer Charter school (Belle Chasse Academy) onboard NAS JRB that accommodates students in elementary and middle school (K-8). For more information, please visit the school's web site or call 504-433-5850. Students and parents may view up-to-date grade and attendance information online through each school website. School in New Orleans begins in mid-to-late August. All Louisiana schools (public and private) require students to wear uniforms.

Enrollment Information
Enrolling school age children into a school facility in the State of Louisiana requires a current physical and immunizations. Please contact the school to see inquire about additional requirements.
School Calendar
The school year begins in August and runs until May. For detailed professional, holiday breaks and teacher in-service days contact the Parish District Office of the school of your choice.
Child Care and Pre-School
After school child care programs and pre-school programs are offered at most schools. For fees, ages, and other information contact individual schools.
Meal Programs
The public schools offer breakfast and lunch. Applications for free and/or reduced price meals are completed as part of the enrollment process; the income requirements are like those in other states, as this is a federal program.
Bus Transportation
The public school system provides bus service for students that are enrolled. Check with the school district for bus routes and times.
There are three divisions for Orleans:
Louisiana offers a number of private schools. Many private schools have a religious affiliation or relationship. Contact the school to obtain information regarding tuition. Additional fees such as music, art, uniforms, books, registration, deposits and transportation may be required.
Currently there are no on-base educational opportunities for adults.
College Courses
Delgado Community College offers both an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Bachelor degree programs in Criminal Justice, Human Resources, Computer Information Systems, and Business Administration. School liaison officers specialize in serving military families and offer a wide spectrum of services to help families become more involved in their children's educations. The services include:
The SLO also levels the playing field for military children by ensuring maximum educational opportunities for academic success.
The SLO serves military families in the following parishes: Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. John (East and West) and St. Tammany Parish.
The SLO serves as the liaison between the installation commander, military agencies and schools by providing assistance in matters pertaining to student education.
The SLO also implements the Navy's strategic planning for education advocacy K-12 recommendation in order to ensure Navy families have access to quality educational opportunities.
