Temporary Housing

Anyone who is on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders to NAS JRB New Orleans should check in at Bldg. 465 with a copy of their current orders. E1-E4 personnel are housed on a permanent basis. E5 and above personnel are not housed at Combined Bachelor Housing on a permanent basis. If available, reservations can be made for transitioning E5 and above personnel in Transient Quarters. These will be offered for a maximum of 30 days, depending on availability, at the regular room rates. Front Desk is located in Bldg. 465.  The Hours of Operation are 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and can be reached at 504-678-3419 or DSN 312-678-3549. Reservation Desk Hours of Operation are 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and they can be reached at 504-678-3840 or DSN 312-678-3840 or by fax at 504-678-9745, DSN fax 312-678-9745. Advance reservations can be made. Personnel with PCS orders have priority. Pets are not allowed. Those traveling with pets must make reservations off-base.

Navy Gateway Inn and Suites

You may make reservations online at DoD Lodging or by phone at 1-877-NAVY-BED (1-877-628-9233). The Navy Gateway Inns and Suites front desk is available 24 hours a day, you may contact them directly by calling 504-678-3419 or 504-678-3549.

Rates are as follows:

• Standard Queen- $91.00 per night
• Standard Suite- $96.00 per night

NGIS transient rooms include the following amenities: cable television; telephone service with wakeup, voicemail and Internet capabilities; iron and iron board; alarm clock; microwave and refrigerator. Some suites and rooms have kitchenettes. Laundry facilities are located in most buildings and computer rooms with Internet capabilities are located in the two main buildings. Common lounges with cable television and laundry, snack and beverage vending machines are in various locations in NGIS facility.

Anyone who is on Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders to NAS JRB New Orleans should check in at Bldg 562 with a copy of their current orders. E1-E4 personnel are housed on a permanent basis and are provide the following: a furnished private bedroom that has a shared bathroom and kitchen with one other E1-E4 member; mailbox, cable television and high speed internet services are available; bicycle storage, luggage storage and laundry facilities are also available.

Within walking distance: Navy Exchange, commissary, fitness center, base swimming pool, library, and chapel.

Short drive to: Oakwood Mall and many restaurants.

Attractions: French Quarter, Harrah's Casino, Riverwalk, Aquarium of the America's, IMAX theater, Audubon Park and Zoo, Mardi Gras World, Woldenberg Park and the D-Day Museum.

Accommodations: 62 Suites, 66 Private Rooms-Private Bath and 134 Private Rooms-Shared Bath.

Pets

There are no kennels located aboard the military installations. Accommodations for all other pets will have to be made in the community - average cost for kennels are about $20 - $25 per day.

Driving Directions from New Orleans International Airport

1. Take I-10 (East or West) to BUS 90 - Mississippi River Bridge/Westbank Expressway.
2. Travel on Westbank Expressway to Lafayette St. Exit.
3. Exit Lafayette St. and turn left onto Lafayette St., which will turn into Belle Chasse Hwy (Hwy. 23).
4. Continue down Belle Chasse Hwy/Hwy 23 thru the Belle Chasse Tunnel.
5. NAS JRB New Orleans Main Gate is 5.0 miles from the Tunnel (3 stop lights). Look for the Blue Angel Airplane on the right.
6. Enter main gate on Russell Ave.
