When you arrive at your new installation, you’ll need to follow installation-specific procedures. Each installation and service handles in-processing differently. Here, you can find installation-specific guidelines and a list of documents to bring with you when checking- in. Reach out to the contacts provided if you have specific questions.
Check in to your parent command first. Personnel at your command will instruct you on all reporting procedures. This will include travel claim processing, information on Basic Allowance for Housing and more.
Note: DO NOT report to the Nuclear Power Training Unit site with family members.
Nuclear Power Training Unit personnel, officer and enlisted, should be prepared to commence working 12-hour days throughout the program.
There is no temporary lodging onboard Naval Support Activity Saratoga Springs. Make reservations in off-base hotels well in advance. See this website for a listing of local hotels and area information.
Arriving staff and students should report to the Nuclear Power Training Unit security office 24 hours per day. Bring your PCS orders and report in your working uniform.
Contact your sponsor as soon as you receive orders. Sponsors are able to answer your questions about your command, the local area and housing. Contact the Fleet and Family Support Center at 518-886-0200, ext. 142, to obtain a sponsor.
If you get married before you PCS, you MUST inform your commander and follow the procedures exactly as you are given them. The military WILL NOT PAY for travel and housing of your spouse if you do not follow proper procedure.
