If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.

Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society
The Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society can be contacted by calling the Fleet and Family Support Center at 518-886-0200, ext. 146. NMCRS, or the Society, will assist you in contacting Army Emergency Relief and the Air Force Aid Society to receive assistance.
The Society is a nonprofit, charitable organization that provides financial, educational and other assistance to members of the U.S. Navy and their eligible family members and survivors when in need. Counseling, loans, grants, various services and referrals to other community resources are available. There are no fees for these services.
The Society, operating in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, administers nearly 250 offices ashore and afloat at Navy and Marine Corps bases around the world.
Our trained caseworkers are familiar with the special conditions of service life. They have a realistic understanding of the potential hardships facing service members and their families.

When the service member can afford to repay, financial assistance is provided as an interest-free loan which is normally repaid by allotment. If repayment would cause hardship, assistance may be provided as a grant or a combination of grant and interest-free loan. NMCRS does not, however, assist with the purchase of nonessentials, nor does it supplement the income of persons who live beyond their means. Other assistance includes:
