Legal assistance is available to you and your family. Below, you’ll find information about claims and installation specific programs and services. If you have questions, reach out to the legal assistance program at your installation.
The award-winning Legal Assistance Office provides services to include notarization, preparation of wills and powers of attorney, advice and assistance on an estate matters, consumer affairs, landlord/tenant law, contracts, insurance law, divorce and separation counseling, tax law, real estate law, credit and collection matters, paternity actions and military administrative matters.
Eligibility
Services are provided to soldiers, family members, retirees and all others entitled to legal assistance pursuant to Army Regulation 27-3.
How to Arrange for Services/Limitations on Services
Attorneys see clients individually by appointment or any time in an emergency. Notary and Power of Attorney services are provided on a walk-in basis during office hours.
The Legal Assistance Office operates a one-stop will program. This service is designed to provide clients with a completed will after seeing an attorney.
Divorce and separation counseling are held for soldiers and family members on separate days.
Legal Assistance Office at Tripler Army Medical Center provides only notary services and limited will services. Call the Legal Assistance Office at Schofield Barracks for more extensive legal assistance at 808-787-3071.
Household Goods Claims Service
The Schofield Barracks Claims Office provides forms and information on claims for loss of or damage to personal property incident to service. Incidents include shipment of personal property and privately owned vehicles, fire, flood, hurricane or other unusual occurrences along with theft or vandalism occurring on government installations and deployments.
Eighth Theater Sustainment Command Claims Office provides only limited assistance consisting of notary and power of attorney services. If you need assistance with filing a claim, contact the Legal Assistance Office at Schofield Barracks 808-787-3071.
