Deployment can be a challenging phase of the military lifecycle, but it’s important to know that you don’t have to go through it alone. The military provides a variety of resources and support programs — ranging from educational briefings to morale calls — for your loved ones, children and service members to ease the stress of deployment. Military members may be assigned to a specific installation but support may come from local communities, Yellow Ribbon events or the installation itself.
One focus of Army Community Service is the mission readiness of both soldiers and their family members throughout their military career by providing a variety of classes, workshops and support services. One major component of our programs is centered on soldier and family support during deployment. These programs are designed to address all phases of deployment, increase awareness and use of resources, increase individual resiliency and increase individual skill levels.
Hosted by ACS, the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation provides a U.S. Army Hawaii Community Readiness Expo for deploying soldiers and their families. Vendors range from family housing and child, youth and school services to Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers. The CRE provides an opportunity for increased awareness of community services and resources, builds connection with the community and provides timely information about upcoming events.
ACS offers an average of 25 different classes and workshops monthly to increase individual skills to deal with the challenges of military life. These include communication, a variety of financial workshops, and stress solutions workshops. Family Readiness Group training is provided to commanders, Family Readiness liaisons, Family Readiness support assistants, and FRG volunteers to prepare them for both garrison and deployment environments.
