Child Care Overview

Programs and services are available at most installations for children up to age 12.  Care may be provided in Child Development Centers, School Age Care Programs, and Family Child Care Homes.  Please review the information to find out what programs and services are available at this installation.  Please contact the Child and Youth Program point of contact at this installation if you require information, assistance or resources for child care in your local community.

Programs Offered

The Vandenberg SFB Child Development Center (CDC) is dedicated to providing quality childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The CDC is accredited by and a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Child Development Center offers weekly, full time and part time day pre-school, hourly and special needs care. They do not offer full time, hourly and special needs care school age programs. The care types include infant, pre-toddler, toddler and pre-school.

Availability /Registration 

There is a waiting list for each classroom/age group. Parents are welcome to come by and fill out a waiting list application and will be placed on a waiting list according to priority. Updated Shot records are required upon registration.

Priority Care 

AFI mandated priority is as follows:

Priority Level:qA2

  • 1= Single Military/DoD Member
  • 2= Dual military/DoD
  • 3= Military/DoD, Employed Spouses or full time students
  • 4= others

Costs/Payment 

Fees are determined upon family income.

Vandenberg Child Development Center provides childcare for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. Programs include weekly, full time and part day pre-school, hourly and special needs care. They do not offer part-day school age programs. CDC Phone: 805-606-1555.
