Buckley has two Child Care Centers that take children from six weeks old to kindergarten age. The A-Basin CDC offers spaces for 170 children. Crested Butte CDC offers spaces for 233 children. Please note that there is a waiting list for each child care center. Both offer identical programs for children and hours are 6:15 a.m. - 5:45 p.m. Mon - Fri. The CDCs are closed on all Federal Holidays.
The Child Development Centers provide full time child care along with hourly care which may be reserved on a space-available basis. Parents may request child care by logging into militarychildcare.com and creating an account. The CDC staff is dedicated to providing environments that emphasize cooperation, caring, mutual respect, creative opportunities, and openness to knowledge and a spirit of inquiry. The curriculum is based on the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of the child. Learning is based on participatory experiences. Daily experiences include large and small motor development, manipulative skills, and creative arts to include painting, music, and movement, science and math, outdoor play, hygiene, and self-help skills.
Registration / Priority Care
Registration is required for all children. Parents must create an account on militarychildcare.com to request child care. Families select their sponsor type (e.g., Active Duty Military, DoD Civilian) and spouse (e.g., Working, Student, Seeking Employment, etc.) status when they create the account. MCC uses the assigned DoD priority, along with the request for care date to determine sequence on the waitlist.
Costs
Childcare fees are based on total family income and are set according to the uniform fee structure guidelines of the DoD and the Military Child Care Act of 1996. There are 11 payment categories ranging from $56.00 to $224.00 weekly. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks, are provided daily. For infants, two types of formulas are available for use, based on parental preference.
