1. Air University has pressed forward with our critical need to deliver the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) a modernized student information system (SIS). The transition from our legacy system has been a major undertaking involving a labor-intensive data migration period which we anticipated would take 3 to 6 months but ended up taking a bit longer. This effort provides both students and instructors an improved user experience in a more secure operating environment. While most of Air University already migrated, the size, scope, and complexity of CCAF’s existing database presented unique challenges which has taken both persistence and patience to overcome.
2. CCAF’s ability to respond to a range of requests has improved but is still somewhat constrained. CCAF can update student records, enrollments and provide transcripts showing qualifying credit for courses.Transcripts can be requested but they may take longer to process due to the previous CCAF “Pause.” Airmen and Guardians can participate in the Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (AFCOOL) program or request and complete certificates, such as CCAF Instructor.
3. Installation education service offices are fully engaged to assist students with navigating any challenges that may arise. We will provide a FAQ page and have a hotline to address the highest priority issues in the field at 334-649-5000 / DSN 749 available M-F, 0730-1630 CST.
4. We are asking our leaders at every level to be patient as we continue to undertake the most significant overhaul of the CCAF SIS in the school’s history. We are working hard to clearly communicate and to ensure installation education offices are armed with the information needed to serve as our “field offices” as we deliver the SIS your Airmen and Guardians deserve.
