Cost of Living
The cost of living for this area is high. A cost-of-living allowance is determined by the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. The average cost for apartments are $1,500 and up. Four-bedroom homes begin at $2,100. Monthly utility bills are on the upward climb primarily because of hot weather and offsetting wildfire costs.
Cost of Moving
The cost of moving, whether military or civilian, may not be completely covered by your permanent change of station funding. For those that have moved before, you know to start saving early, especially if you'll have to move in the next few years. Waiting until the orders come and trying to save in those last few months can be difficult, if not impossible. For more information on financial planning and moving costs, contact your local family advocacy program office or military personnel.
A certified personal financial counselor is not available, but you may get financial information and coaching through the Employee Assistance Program.
If you have children in our installation child development center, you have the opportunity to be considered for reduced child care fees if there is a financial hardship or demonstrated need.
Emergency Relief Assistance is also available Financial assistance referrals are available through the employee assistance program.
