If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Medical Emergencies
Should you experience a medical emergency in transit, call 911 or visit the nearest hospital emergency room.
911 does work, it is just a little slower. Calls to 911 are routed through Monterey County. Individuals who call 911 should inform 911 dispatch they are at Ft. Hunter Liggett.
FHL Fire Rescue/Medical
The FHL Fire Department is an all hazards agency providing the residents and FHL with fire & emergency services that include the following: structural firefighting, airport rescue firefighting, wildland firefighting, technical rescue services (confined space, high and low angle rescue, auto extrication and search and rescue), fire prevention (public education, fire inspections and fire investigations) and emergency medical services.
FHL Fire Department's EMS provides the FHL community with advanced life support at the paramedic level. The fire department staffs ambulances 24/7/365 with fully trained and certified personnel. The department operates under the medical control of the Monterey County Emergency Services Agency. Under the Monterey County protocols, FHL Fire Department personnel transport patients to the most appropriate hospital based on the patient's needs and the hospital's capabilities. In addition to the fire department EMS assets, Mercy Air -20 based at Tusi Airfield operates under the command and control of the fire department and provides helicopter based critical care transport to the FHL community.
