The Geilenkirchen Child Development Center and JFC Brunssum Child Development Center (CDC) have a Department of Defense (DOD) license to operate, and they follow the guidelines of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). There are other options that may meet your particular needs off-base.
The Child & Youth Program on base has 37 full day and 24 School Age Program spaces. The Geilenkirchen Child Development Center (CDC) accepts children from 6 weeks to 5 years old and 5years to 12 years for the School Age Program (SAP). Alternate care can be found at the JFC Child Development Center which is located approximately 10-15 minutes away in Brunssum, The Netherlands, offers care for infants from six weeks up to five years old. Child care programs offered at Geilenkirchen CDC include: Infant, Pre-Toddler, Toddler, Pre-School and School Age, Full-Day, Before/ After School Care, and Hourly Care.Schools: All school-aged children attend AFNorth International School in Brunssum, NL, about fifteen minutes from the base. Authorized Family Child Care Homes are not available at Geilenkirchen, since no on base housing is available.
The Geilenkirchen Child Development Center (CDC) has a capacity of 37 spaces. It is open to all Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) Patrons and the programs are English-speaking. Full time childcare is open to children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Drop-in care is available on a space-available basis; call DSN 314-458-6017 for details.
The SAC also offers Before-and-After school care for school-aged children up to 12 years. This program runs full-days during school vacation and summer breaks.
JFC Brunssum Child Development Center (CDC)
Programs Offered -- The JFC Child Development Center provides full-day, part-day and hourly care. Booking ahead will ensure you child care on the day you need it. All JFC and NATO ID card holders are authorized to use its services. Children from 6 weeks to 5 years of age are accepted.
The JFC School Age Program provides supervised out-of-school options for children 6 to 10 years of age, or first grade through fifth grade. The program provides services during the summer, before and after school, school holidays, teacher in service days and during vacation periods. It is open to JFC and NATO ID card holders.
Priority Care -- Priority is given as follows: single military, dual military, military with working spouse, civilian with working spouse and military with non-working spouse.

Costs -- Rates for the Child Development Center are based on gross family income.
