Temporary Housing

Talk with your sponsor about temporary living quarters. Most people stay in hotels or guesthouses. Guesthouses and hotels are similarly priced and comparably equipped. Rates ranging from 80-160 euros (exchange rate changes daily, check today's rate) per day. Talk with your sponsor about making arrangements for the guesthouses well in advance of your arrival. Government quarters ARE NOT available at NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen, Germany. Locating a house is generally not difficult. 
All incoming personnel will report, within 2 working days after arrival, to the Military Housing Office in Building 87. The Housing briefing is held every Wednesday at 1000 in Building 87. (Briefing currently all digital and or in person).

The bad news is there is no temporary lodging facilities on base for accompanied military members or single members with pets. The good news is guest lodging on the economy is usually very nice and covered by Temporary Lodging Allowances. Most guest houses also allow pets and are fully furnished. NATO Billeting provides temporary lodging for military members and dependents, but no Pets.

You need to let your sponsor know whether or not you are accompanied and if you have pets. Reservations will then be made by your sponsor prior to arrival for the maximum allowable time - 30 days. Send a copy of your orders to your sponsor for temporary housing arrangements. Prices vary according based on number of beds needed, location, and pets fees. If there is suitable housing available you will need to move in asap, CFMO Brunssum will provide all necessary temporary furniture, If you need additional time, extensions only be approved with a valid reasons on a case-by-case basis and need to be approved by the 470^th CC. 

Rates for an off-base guest house/hotel average approximately $80-160 per night and vary according to the guest house/hotel and size of family. Transportation to your TLA from the Brussels or Düsseldorf Airport is no longer available. Please contact your sponsor to arrange appropriate transportation. In addition, taxi service and busses are available to get you to the base if necessary. A lot of the guesthouses will have a shuttle service that will pick you up from the airport - these arrangements can be made with making the reservations.

Transportation to-and-from base should be organized by your sponsor until you have access to a POV and have a USAEUR driver's license. Busses and taxis also can get you to the base if necessary.
