If you’ve ever considered taking your education a step further, you should look to your installation for more information and assistance. They can help you decide if receiving an advanced degree is right for you, tell you which local colleges and classes are offered and find out if you’re eligible for tuition assistance. The Voluntary Education Center, or Installation Education Center, is available to help you put together a plan to advance your education.
Military spouses can also choose to engage with an education and career coach through the DoD’s Spouse Education and Career Opportunities program, or SECO. These coaches can assist them in exploring multiple tools, resources and information to reach their educational goals. The Hanscom Education and Training Center is the focal point for formal education and training for military and Department of Defense (DoD) civilian personnel and tenant units assigned to Hanscom Air Force Base. The primary objective of the Education and Training Center is the preparation of the Hanscom workforce for current and future mission requirements, as well as professional development opportunities by planning, programming, budgeting, and executing formal education and training.
The Greater Boston area has many colleges and universities: Amherst College, Bentley University, Boston College, Boston University, Brandeis University, Clark University, Emerson College, Harvard University, Lesley University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts, Wellesley College, Western New England University, and Wheaton College; just to name a few. Currently, there are two universities offering courses at the Hanscom Education and Training Center: Boston University (Graduate Programs) and Park University (Undergraduate Programs).
Counselors are available to assist you with your education related needs; including help to choose a program, review of your prior credits, and much more.
