If you need emergency assistance, you can expect to get help from your installation, your branch of service resources. There are programs to support you in a variety of situations, including victim assistance, emergencies en route and service-specific relief societies. Below, you’ll find types of assistance, contact information, and detailed procedures and guidance to help you through any tough circumstances that you or your family may face.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is always available for emergency aid anywhere you may be. Contact the nearest chapter toll free at 1-877-272-7337. They can help with contacting individuals that will need to know where you are and what is happening.
The American Red Cross provides assistance for military personnel and their immediate families in times of emergency. Quick communication with home about family crisis is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This includes verification of death or serious illness, birth announcements to fathers deployed overseas, and health and welfare reports resulting from loss of communication over an extended period of time.
Air Force Aid provides financial assistance in the form of no-interest loans or grants to assist with emergencies. The Air Force Aid Officer can be contacted through the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 850-884-5441 during duty hours. After duty hours, you can access the Red Cross (1-877-272-7337) to request Air Force Aid assistance for emergency travel or other emergencies that cannot wait until the following day.
Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities is a nonprofit organization assisting families in need of furniture and food. Services are based on income level as well as emergency needs; (850) 244-2825
Base Chaplain
The base Chaplain is available to provide spiritual guidance and comfort in emergency situations; 850-884-7795.
Victim Advocate
For immediate emergency assistance, contact 24-hour HOTLINE at 850 884-7272. During duty hours; please call SAPR at 850-884-1417/6094/1172. After duty hours, please call 850-603-7785 or 850-603-2486; or the Deputy SARC at 850-902-5298
Make sure that all your important papers are with you, not packed with your household goods. Also make sure that you have phone numbers for your Commander, Command Support Staff (CSS), and your sponsor in case you have an emergency while you are traveling.
Emergencies happen without warning. Please contact your unit 1st Sergeant or the Hurlburt Field Command Post at 850-884-8100 for emergency assistance after normal duty hours. During normal duty hours (7:30 am to 4:30 pm) the Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) can be contacted by calling the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 850-884-5441/5442.
