A wide range of programs are available for youth and teens, including youth sports and recreation programs, educational programs and programs that support leadership and career development. Please review the information to learn what programs and services are available at this installation.
Hurlburt Field Youth Center offers comprehensive programs to satisfy the needs of young family members. Youth Programs cater to youth, ages 5-18. Many of the programs are sponsored on a year-round basis. Special summer classes and activities are also offered. Call 850-884-6355 for more information.
Youth Sponsorship Program
The Hurlburt "Kids in Touch with Kids" program will help youth find a friend at Hurlburt Field. If you are interested in having a friend contact you, mail the following information to the Hurlburt Field Youth Center:

Once arriving at Hurlburt families should come and have a tour of the Youth Programs and we will have you fill out a Sponsorship form for your child.
Youth Employment
There are many employment opportunities for youth 16 and older in the local area. The base also offers summer employment opportunities.
The School Age Program services Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties offering before and after school care for children 5-12 years of age 6:00 am - 6:00 pm. Children are dropped off in the morning and are offered breakfast and a variety of free choice activities until they depart to school. Transportation to and from school is provided. Upon arrival after school, they are offered a nutritious snack and choice of activities and clubs based on interest.
The Summer Camp Program -- serves children 6 to 12 years of age and operates from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Children are served breakfast, lunch and a snack and participate in activities such as field trips, swimming, bowling, and free choice activities. Fees for these programs are on a sliding scale based on total family income.
Open Recreation Program
The Open Recreation program is for 9-12 year old youth of active duty, retired, reserve and base civilian ID card holders to enjoy. Its purpose is to keep youth engaged and active in their community in a positive way through service to community. The Boys & Girls Club partnership allows us to provide youth with the tools and resources to create a positive place to offer Leadership Groups which encourage youth to plan and assist in overseeing their own recreational program needs supervised by trained qualified staff. Youth plan and implement their own activities with staff supervision. The youth plan to meet their goals for partnerships, mentoring younger youth and promote service to their community. All youth must be registered with Youth Programs in order to participate. Guests must be accompanied by a registered youth and a $2 guest fee will apply. This program has an Annual Registration of $35. There are No additional daily fees. Fees for special events, camps or trips will only be incurred. Registration year runs from 1 January - 31 December.

Teen Center
The Teen Center provides a safe and positive place for teens to spend time. The center features three 46 inch televisions, five iPads, DVD player, Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 / ONE, two on-line computers with high-speed Internet access, WIFI, guitars and a 1500 watt DJ system as well as a gymnasium. There are also many structured programs that provide opportunities for youths to develop their physical, social, emotional and cognitive abilities. Youth of the Year, Keystone Leadership Club, Fine Arts, Photography, YES Scholarship Program, Money Matters, Summer and Specialty Camps, Life Skills and Street Smart programs, Visits to Teen Court, Babysitting courses, parties, and Kick It Nights are just a few of the programs offered. Youth participate in Air Force Teen Council and all types of community services projects and documented volunteer hours.
A $50.00 registration fee is required annually.
Youth Sports
The youth sports league and programs are organized to teach basic fundamentals of team and individual sports and improving on those skills as youth progress through their development. Our goal is to provide youth with a learning environment that is positive, fun and contributes to the well-being of the military family. Youth sports include: basketball, baseball/coach-pitch, cheerleading, flag football, inline hockey, soccer, and softball. Spring Break, Fall Break and Summer Clinics include Archery, Tennis, Volleyball, Fitness Boot Camp, and soccer. Also available for ages 3-5 is our Start Smart parent-Child one-on-one instructional program for basketball, baseball, soccer and swim classes every fall and spring.
